The 710-E 640-S turntable features a heavy, cast-iron plinth, which not only provides a stable base but also helps to reduce vibrations and resonances that might interfere with the sound quality. The plinth is finished in a luxurious high-gloss black, giving the turntable a sleek and sophisticated appearance that would look at home in any high-end audio system.
The turntable is driven by a powerful, synchronous motor, which delivers precise speed control and ensures that your records are played back at the correct speed, every time. The motor is housed in a separate, acoustically isolated chamber, which further reduces the risk of vibrations affecting the playback.
The 710-E 640-S turntable comes with a high-mass, low-noise tonearm, which is fitted with a high-quality, moving-magnet cartridge. The tonearm is adjustable for both azimuth and vertical tracking angle, allowing you to fine-tune the setup for optimal sound quality. The cartridge is easily removable, making it simple to upgrade to a higher-end cartridge as your audio system evolves.
The turntable also features a heavy, steel platter, which is damped with a rubber mat to reduce unwanted resonances. The platter is driven by a heavy, silicon-rubber belt, which ensures smooth and quiet operation.
The 710-E 640-S turntable is a true audiophile's delight, offering exceptional sound quality, build quality, and finish. Whether you're a vinyl enthusiast looking to upgrade your system or a music lover looking to explore the world of analog record playback, the Garrard 710-E 640-S turntable is an investment that will pay dividends for years to come.

The dust cover is in nice shape but has requisite scratches you would find a table of this vintage at least 45 years old. It has a shire m93e cartridge with new stylus. The automatic setting is balky but I use manual. The table was lubricated at all connections.
This table could actually be parted out for the two piece dust cover, cartridge, series ii synchronous motor and base if one was inclined to do so. The bearings on motor have been cleaned and lubed with bearing oil. The guts of turntable as well platter now run freely. It does play in three speeds and I tested out.
The guts of turntable were removed, cleaned and reassembled. This turntable is known as a Garrard 710-E however it also model 640-s. I will clean the dust cover as best could be. It is a fully automatic manual table.
It comes with a manual spindle and an automatic as well 45 adapter. There is sound from both channels.
Overall a good starter turntable for vintage system. Happy buying. The auto setting may need a simple adjustment. I rewired the tonearm from cartridge to left right input.
