It worked equally as well plugged into channel Upon removing the platter I discovered idler wheel rubber had hardened over time so purchased a new tire for it. I used some fine steel wool on the handle chrome and it cleaned up nicely, think most of other pieces would too. I plugged a microphone in to channel 1 and it worked fine.
I did not test the tape tuner in jack, monitor or dc power input capability but see no reason they won't work. Here is a very interesting, rare, and collectible Bogen VP-25A mono stereo suitcase record player. Cosmetically this record player does show signs of age and use with scuffs, scratches, dings, other marks. In these advertisement the VP-25A was pitched to square dancers and dance callers due its portability 2 microphone inputs.
The first thing this record player received was a good cleaning. One other thing to note is the tab on head shell used lift tonearm looks have been repaired at some point.
Using these 2 jacks enables the unit to play in stereo. The speaker grill is in great shape although does have some light staining.
Its my understanding the amplifier and case were made in USA lenco record player switzerland. It can probably be carefully cleaned but I did not attempt. The speaker, which appears to be in great condition provided good fidelity. Overall this portable suitcase record player shows quite well.
Further detailing can be done, however it looks good as is. Its comprised of a Lear Ziegler, Bogen division amplifier and lenco b52 turntable. The turntable turned out very nice.
While the platter was off I lubed bearing and other moving parts with synthetic turntable oil. There is information on the lenco b52 turntable, but very little Bogen VP-25A. I did find mention of it in advertisements two articles, one from 1971, the other 1970 believe.
I was unable to test it at the sale so bought not knowing if worked or. I found very little information about this record player online. Ac power cord appears to be in good condition. I rigged up a plug to different speaker and confirmed audio is present at both pin-plug output jacks in addition the phone jack.
I should note that when playing an album at did have to shift the speed lever ever so slightly down off its locked in position achieve correct. The tone control switch functions appeared to work. The amplifier powered up on my dim bulb tester without issue. Both volume controls operate fine without static as do the bass and treble.
I purchased it at a local estate sale and was told the house Haydn't been lived in for least 30 years, so its likely this record player Hans't seen use since 1980 's. This record player is heavy, weighing in at 34 pounds, so shipping weight will likely be close to 40 pounds. I don't know if the stylus is original or not, though new sapphire and diamond styli are available for a very reasonable price.
The nice thing about speed selector is it allows continual adjustment from 16 rpm through 78. It is sold as-is but guaranteed to power on and be as described.
