The TR-25 AM 1950s Newcomb Record Player (TR-25 deck) is a vintage audio device that combines classic design with functional performance. Here are some pros and cons to consider before making a purchase:

Pros:

1. Authentic Vintage Design: The TR-25 AM's classic 1950s Newcomb design is a unique and attractive addition to any home decor.

2. Stereo Sound Quality: Despite its age, this record player delivers good stereo sound quality, making it suitable for listening to music and even small gatherings.

3. Turntable: The 3-speed turntable (33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM) allows for playing a wide variety of vinyl records.

4. AM/FM Radio: The built-in AM/FM radio provides additional entertainment options.

Cons:

1. Aging Components: Being a vintage item, some components may have worn out or may require replacement, which could lead to potential issues with the performance of the device.

2. Limited Connectivity: The TR-25 AM does not have modern connectivity options, such as Bluetooth or USB, so streaming music from digital sources is not possible.

3. Potential Maintenance Issues: As with any vintage item, regular maintenance may be required to keep the record player in good working order.

4. Sound Quality Limitations: While the sound quality is decent for a vintage record player, it may not compete with modern audio equipment in terms of clarity and depth.

Conclusion:

The TR-25 AM 1950s Newcomb Record Player is an attractive and functional vintage audio device that offers good sound quality and a classic design. However, potential buyers should be aware of its aging components, limited connectivity, and potential maintenance issues. If you are looking for a unique addition to your home decor and enjoy the ambiance of vinyl records, this record player could be a good choice. On the other hand, if you prioritize modern features, sound quality, or ease of use, you may want to consider a more modern audio device.

Details:

I'm not sure if its supposed to or not, but the arm does stay in place when lifted up. I have not tested the unit with speakers, and am selling it as-is. Also, the lid is missing, and as previously mentioned turntable only spins under 45 78 speed settings. Condition: there is significant body wear and tear please look at the pictures, felt on turntable needs to be replaced.

It is the red deck version, but lid missing. For sale is a vintage Newcomb TR-25 am record player. I plugged it in, and the turntable spins when speed is set to 45 78, but not under settings. I have not tested it with a record or any speakers.

The speed control knob works and does increase.
