**Pros of buying a M44-7 1960s Shure Phono Cartridge Body (Script Stylus, Creamy, Big Fat Sound, M3D, M7D, V15):**

1. **Historical Value:** This cartridge body is a vintage piece from the 1960s, which adds a unique charm and collectible value to it.

2. **Distinct Sound Quality:** The M44-7 is known for its rich, warm, and full-bodied sound that many audiophiles appreciate for its musicality. The creamy, big fat sound can make listening to music more immersive and enjoyable.

3. **Compatibility:** The M44-7 is compatible with a variety of tonearms, making it a versatile choice for vinyl enthusiasts.

4. **Durability:** Shure products are known for their high-quality construction, and the M44-7 is no exception. This durability can make it a long-lasting investment.

**Cons of buying a M44-7 1960s Shure Phono Cartridge Body (Script Stylus, Creamy, Big Fat Sound, M3D, M7D, V15):**

1. **Obsolete Technology:** As a vintage cartridge, the M44-7 uses older technology, which means it may not offer the same level of detail and clarity as modern cartridges.

2. **Requires Special Care:** Vintage cartridges require more care and maintenance than modern ones. They are more sensitive to handling and changes in temperature and humidity.

3. **Limited Availability:** Due to its age, finding parts for repair or replacement may be challenging, which can make it harder to keep the cartridge in good working condition.

4. **High Cost:** While some vintage items can be found at a reasonable price, the M44-7 can command a high price due to its rarity and desirability among collectors.

**Conclusion:** If you're a vinyl enthusiast who values a warm, full-bodied sound and appreciates vintage equipment, the M44-7 1960s Shure Phono Cartridge Body could be a worthwhile addition to your setup. However, it's essential to be aware of the challenges that come with owning a vintage cartridge, such as its required maintenance and potential limited availability of parts for repair.

**Recommendation:** If you're interested in the M44-7 but concerned about its vintage nature, you might want to consider a modern cartridge that offers a similar sound profile. This way, you can enjoy the sound you love with the benefits of modern technology and availability of parts for repair. Alternatively, if you're a collector, the M44-7's historical value and unique sound could make it an excellent addition to your collection.

Details:

The m44 of this era used same body as original Shure v15. There is something special about these early Shure cartridges with the script logo. The reason is its big, warm sound. I used this m44 to great success with vintage tonearms by Stromboli-Carlson, grad, empire, rca and Pickering.

Offered here is an original, vintage, first issue 1960s Shure M44-7 white body phono cartridge. In fact, it reminds me very much of the Shure m3d.

I used to have an original script logo 1960s m55 brown body and it was the same way. This does not sound like a modern m44. I have tried all of the m44 cartridges and this early version is, by far, finest sounding.

I ship worldwide. Its pure magic, in fact. This has been in my personal collection for many years and was always favorite of the classic Shires, having owned most line at one time or another. The Mr series was statics premium audiophile line.

It is fuller, creamier, richer, and more sophisticated. The third stylus is a nos static Mr series that I opened and used for approximately 8 hours total to do some needle drops. What is special about this stylus that it features.
