The RCA Victor LP120-USB, also known as the L-E500, is a popular belt-drive automatic linear turntable. Here are some pros and cons to consider before making a purchase.
Pros:1. Affordable: The L-E500 is priced competitively, making it an accessible option for those looking to start or expand their vinyl collection.
2. Belt-drive design: This design leads to smoother, less vibration-prone playback compared to direct-drive turntables at a similar price point.
3. Automatic operation: The turntable automatically starts and stops the platter, reducing user involvement during playback and making it easier for beginners.
4. USB connection: Allows for vinyl-to-digital file conversion, preserving your vinyl collection in digital format.
5. Built-in phono preamp: Enables direct connection to an amplifier without needing an additional preamp.
Cons:1. Build quality: Some users have reported issues with the build quality, such as parts feeling flimsy or the lid not closing properly.
2. Speed accuracy: Speed consistency may vary slightly, which can impact playback quality.
3. No adjustable tonearm: The tonearm cannot be adjusted for tracking force or anti-skate, which may be important for serious audiophiles.
4. Bass response: Some users have noticed a slight lack of bass response compared to higher-end turntables.
In conclusion, the RCA Victor LP120-USB (L-E500) offers a good balance of affordability, features, and performance for beginners and casual vinyl listeners. However, those seeking higher-quality sound and construction may want to consider investing in a more expensive turntable. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option with USB connectivity and automatic operation, the L-E500 could be an excellent choice.
Compact and doesn take up much space. Tested the platter doesn spin I assume needs a new belt but it powers on, tonearm works, all lights work etc, cosmetically in very good shape some minor surface scratches on top.
Made in japan. I have been selling turntables for a number of years and never come across one these, nice addition to any collection or just listen some records. Being sold for parts of repair.
