When playing a record, if the volume is all the way up, there is some faint garbled music coming out of the speaker along with the loud buzzing. It will look great when properly cleaned. All the tubes get hot but I can only see a dim glow in 3 of them. I will try to insert a video here of it operating with the cover off.
When the tubes warm up, it buzzes quite loudly. The table stops turning at the end of a record like it should. It is a great conversation piece sitting next to my other turntables. The black knob selects 'phono' or 'radio'.
Rca model 6 xy 5a this is a very unique 45 player with built in am tuner slide a record into the slot, lift the 'rca victor' lever and the record plays, automatically stopping at the end. The front 'grille' pattern is dirty and will need cleaning, I cleaned some of it but I didn't take the time to get into all those little crevices. It is not fully operational and will need some expert help. But I am sure it could be repaired if you are capable or know someone that is.
The white dial on the left is the on off volume knob. So, in summary, this is a great looking piece of phonograph history, that is currently not working. However, this mechanism is funked up and sticky so it does not work. I was not able to 'find' any stations, the buzzing is even louder when set to 'radio'.
Simply sliding a record into the front slot has been enough to amaze me and my friends for the past few years. There is still a chip missing on the right front corner and you can see the repaired cracks emanating from that chip.
However, the job was done well and they are not very noticeable unless you are looking for them. The black outer case has been damaged in the distant past and was 'welded' up quite nicely. The white dial on the right tunes in the stations. Pushing down on the lever re engages the table.
