Last time I used this record player a few years ago the speed issue got better longer it ran. Second is that there a tiny bit of speed variation wow you can hear in the recorded clip. Perhaps that is typical for these, I don't know. This is truly a piece of vintage electronics so it comes with those regular caveats although I cannot imagine there anything on this unit that would not be repairable.
Without a doubt this will benefit from someone going through who knows what they are doing. Again not bad, but there. I am sure it would also benefit from a new cartridge/needle. Califone Commentator Vacuum Tube portable record player model 12MV.
Two issues as far I can tell - there is a hum through the speaker, not very loud but. Everything works including microphone input. It has been sitting in a closet since then. This is an idler drive turntable so replacing the rubber tire on may help this.
Case is in great shape, speaker sounds good. This is probably at least 50 years old and I have done no work on it whatsoever. I plugged it in and was thrilled that still worked. Very cool piece of nostalgia, until a few years ago I used to get this out every now and then when friends were over play some 45's.
It has vacuum tubes so it takes a minute to warm up. Very clean and complete.
