The controls were not scratchy which kind of surprised me. 2 big screws as seen in picture There are dots on the top of the cover which i'm not sure what they are. The dust cover just sits in a couple of slots so it comes off to play records.
I did not hook up a tape deck to test. No cracks in the cover. Cleaning it didn't remove them so they would probably have to be polished out to remove.
For your consideration is a Zenith allegro model J584W compact stereo with a turntable and radio also has inputs for an external tape player. There are no speakers included however there is an awesome Wm's sticker attached to the front of the cover. So basically it works fine manually but the automatic function is not working.
It goes with the system. I will lock down the turntable for shipping so be sure to unlock it when it arrives. On automatic mode the record drops and the tonearm moves over but it moves over too far about the middle of the record.
First i'll tell you about the turntable. It does not return when it is done playing the record either. The radio works great.
