The Technics SL-B250U Direct-Drive Belt Drive Turntable is a popular choice among vinyl enthusiasts. Here are some pros and cons to consider before making a purchase:
Pros:1. Direct-drive motor: Known for its high torque and precise speed control, the direct-drive motor ensures smooth and stable playback.
2. Belt drive system: Provides a balanced sound quality by reducing the transfer of motor vibrations to the platter.
3. Anti-resonance die-cast aluminum platter: Helps reduce unwanted vibrations and ensures accurate rotation.
4. Static balance S-shaped tonearm: Offers improved tracking and reduced distortion.
5. Adjustable pitch control: Allows for fine-tuning the pitch during playback.
6. Built-in phono preamp: Enables direct connection to a powered speaker or amplifier without needing an external phono preamp.
Cons:1. Price: The SL-B250U is priced higher than some other turntables, making it a more significant investment.
2. Speed change may require time and practice: While the speed change function is available, it may take some time to get accustomed to adjusting the speed accurately.
3. Heavier weight: At 16.5 lbs, the SL-B250U may be too heavy for some users to easily move around.
In conclusion, the Technics SL-B250U Direct-Drive Belt Drive Turntable offers excellent sound quality, precision, and durability. Its direct-drive motor, anti-resonance platter, and adjustable pitch control make it a great choice for serious vinyl enthusiasts. However, its higher price point and learning curve for speed changes may make it less suitable for beginners or those on a budget. If you're willing to invest in a high-quality turntable with a balanced sound and precise playback, the SL-B250U could be an excellent addition to your audio setup. If you're new to vinyl or have a tighter budget, you may want to consider other entry-level turntables first.
And the lid will need some sort of a hinge mechanism on back. Here is a nice Technics record player model dc servo automatic turntable system sl b250 this unit is very clean but needs a belt and needle.
Mike and Kelly. So i'm selling this record player as is which will need a needle and a belt which are fairly reasonable online. I tested the motor on this unit with a belt from my own record player and the motor works perfectly and spun very nicely with no drag.
Comes with cord and lid but i'm not positive if this lid was original I bought this at an estate sale the lid was sitting on top of the chassis it fits perfectly on top of the record player itself but not 100 sure if it's the original lid. Also comes with cord that was not the original that was modified to fit.
The lid has scuffs and scratches on it as you'll see in the photos but still was protecting and keeping dust out of the record player it's self.
