Embark on an audiophile's journey with the TECHNICS SL-1900 Direct-Drive Turntable, a masterpiece of modern turntable engineering. This high-end vinyl player, a testament to TECHNICS' unwavering commitment to sound quality, offers an unparalleled listening experience that transcends the boundaries of traditional music reproduction.
At the heart of the SL-1900 lies a robust, high-torque direct-drive motor, ensuring consistent rotational speed and minimal vibration for flawless playback. The motor is encased in a dual-layer chassis, a combination of heavy-weight die-cast aluminum and resin, designed to minimize unwanted resonances and ensure the purest sound possible.
The SL-1900 features a high-mass, low-resonance platter, precision-machined from a solid piece of aluminum. The platter is driven by a brass flywheel, ensuring smooth, stable rotation and minimizing speed variations. The result is a detailed, dynamic, and accurate sound reproduction that brings your vinyl collection to life.
The SL-1900's tonearm is a work of art in itself. The S-shaped aluminum tonearm is designed with precision and care, featuring a high-quality, low-mass headshell that houses a high-quality cartridge (not included). The tonearm is equipped with a hydraulic damping system, ensuring smooth, controlled movement for precise tracking and minimizing unwanted resonances.
The SL-1900 also boasts a high-quality phono pre-amp, offering a range of adjustable parameters, including gain, impedance, and EQ curve (RIAA), allowing you to fine-tune the sound to your preference. The turntable also features a selection of input and output connectors, including a balanced XLR output, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of audio equipment.
In conclusion, the TECHNICS SL-1900 Direct-Drive Turntable is more than just a vinyl player; it's a powerful tool for audiophiles seeking the ultimate in sound quality and performance. With its robust construction, precise engineering, and advanced features, the SL-1900 promises to deliver a listening experience that is nothing short of extraordinary.
The Technics SL-1900 Direct Drive Turntable is a high-end vinyl record player that is well-regarded by audiophiles. Here are some pros and cons to consider before making a purchase:
Pros:1. Direct Drive: The SL-1900 uses a direct drive motor, which provides steady, accurate rotation, and quick start and stop times. This is beneficial for DJs who need to quickly cue and scratch records.
2. High-Quality Build: Technics is known for the durability and solid construction of its turntables. The SL-1900 features a die-cast aluminum platter and a heavy, anti-resonant cabinet, ensuring a stable and vibration-free playback environment.
3. Adjustable Speed: The turntable offers three selectable speeds (33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM) with quartz-controlled digital pitch stabilizers, ensuring precise speed control and minimal wow and flutter.
4. High-Resolution Audio: The SL-1900 can produce high-resolution audio (up to 24-bit/96kHz) when connected to external DACs (Digital-to-Analog Converters), making it suitable for critical listening and high-fidelity music reproduction.
5. DJ-Friendly Features: In addition to its direct drive motor, the SL-1900 also offers a pitch control range of 8%, reverse play, and a start/stop brake adjustment, making it a great choice for DJs.
Cons:1. High Price: The SL-1900 is a high-end turntable with a corresponding high price tag. Budget-conscious consumers may want to consider less expensive options.
2. Large Size: The SL-1900 is a substantial piece of equipment, measuring 18 x 16 x 6.3 inches (HxWxD) and weighing approximately 26.5 pounds. This may make it difficult to find a suitable location in smaller spaces.
3. Requires External Power Supply: The turntable requires an external power supply unit (PSU) to provide clean and stable power to the motor. This adds to the overall cost and complexity of setting up the system.
4. May Be Overkill for Casual Listening: While the SL-1900 offers exceptional sound quality, its features and capabilities may be more than what's necessary for casual vinyl enthusiasts who are not concerned with DJ-related functions.
Conclusion:The Technics SL-1900 Direct Drive Turntable is an excellent choice for DJs and audiophiles who demand top-tier performance, high-quality build, and a wide range of features. Its high price tag and large size may make it less suitable for casual listeners or those with limited space and budget. If you are in the market for a high-end turntable and can afford the investment, the SL-1900 is certainly worth considering. However, for those with more modest needs, there are other, more affordable options available that may better suit your requirements.
The turntable works fine without any problems mechanically except if you chose it does need to have the curing adjusted to slow the tonearm decent in the auto start mode.
It goes down to fast. This is a vintage direct drive Technics turntable sl I don't know how much life is left with the stylus but they are easy to find.
I used it in the manual mode without issue. The turntable sounds very nice with the shire 44e cartridge stylus.
A nice piece of vintage audio.
