Functionally, it plays records in vertical and horizontal position nicely. The Sony sticker has become a little loose around edges since last time I took pictures of it, but it still works great. The pictures above show it playing them fine.
What is this. Probably one of my most prized vintage audio pieces now being listed for sale. That, in combination with the popularity of vintage Sony portables makes this a truly nice treasure for music lover, collector, or eccentric aficionado alike. These don't come for sale often at all, let alone in this condition and fully working. The original box is included as well, but misplaced manual years ago.
Shipping - how do you it much. Over the past 5-8 years, vinyl has made a come-back in big way, and mores we see manufacturers now putting out record players to cater new comer, old-time audiophiles, or those want something bit more eccentric. I get a lot of oohs ayahs from folks asking what it was and shocked to see that could actually play records, on 2 x AA batteries boot.
I hate to let this go, but there have been some unforeseen expenses that quickly need cover. This was one of the very first vertical record players to be introduced and that is still sought after today for not only its rarity, but also because build-quality, sonic capability, over-all 'cool-factor' player evokes when people see it or use.
The automatic clamp works great and all lights work. This is my Sony PS-F9 flamingo record player. I've played my regular 33 and 45 rpm records without any issues. I don't have the original Sony power adapter, but do a suitable replacement with correct voltage and polarity that this requires.
However, let's not forget Sony thought of this concept way back in 1983 with the PS-F9, and player trumps others as its actually portable. I bought this player many years ago importing it from japan and have used lightly over that time. This is coming from my personal collection and hope someone would use cherish it as much I have over the years.
