I would rate the exterior condition as an 9.

The pl 71 has a double construction wood en cabinet and metal base that virtually eliminates all external vibration and howling. This is a great collectable turntable and has a beautiful large prime walnut real wood base with smoked dust cover.
You can bid as many times as you choose but no consecutive multiple buying over 3 bids please when you are the lead or high bidder. At the time this turntable was made, it had Pioneer's cutting edge technology with dc servo high torque direct drive and electronic servo control for accurate and quiet play.

The turntable is in excellent working condition and all functions work well.
Included is a copy of the original owner's manual.
The rubber mat is in very good condition and has some moderate level age and use wear. For buying I only allow up to three consecutive bids in a row at a time in a row when you are the high bidder and bid padding is not allowed. The bottom metal chassis is excellent. This pertains to the ship cost only and not item price.
Problem cannot be due to damage caused after the item is received or due to buyer misuse. The walnut wood base looks very nice with light moderate age wear and is mint.
Included is a quality shure M95ED cartridge, that was one of the best of the vintage cartridges and has high quality sound, with brand new quality after market stylus that is Swiss made with a diamond elliptical tip the turntable is in very nice clean near mint external condition with very light wear and has had the walnut chassis cleaned and oiled. The dust cover is in nice condition and has a few light scratches on the top, some moderate scuffing and moderate crack by one hinge that does not effect use.
The platter was cleaned and is excellent. The turntable was serviced including cleaning of the pitch controls and was fully tested. This turntable has rpm speeds and has a platter light strobe with separate speed pitch control for setting accurate platter speed and the turntable plays with accurate and even speed.
The tonearm and platter were cleaned and the tonearm was hand polished and both are in excellent condition.
The Pioneer pl 71 was a popular top model vintage 1970's turntable and has outstanding build quality and excellent sound.
