Details:

Philco m speed record player as is, part or repair beautiful mid century modern design, the type of design that nearly 70 years later looks modern. I am selling this unit as is, so please buy with caution and ask question. This player was introduced in 1948 as a radio console add on to play the new dangled speed LP's that had just hit the market.

This is a common problem and requires that the switch be adjusted, there is some info on YouTube. I was able to start it manually by physically tripping the switch inside the housing. On one side there is a chip and crack, which I pulled on and it seems to be structurally sound. The motor was quiet and consistent ran at the correct speed.

The needle is present and feels like it is in good shape, but is not transmitting sound. Player does not start when you position the needle over the record as it is designed to do. I wiped it down, which started to bring the finish back to life.

Cosmetics are good, but understandably, not perfect. When I touch the head shell it thumps and can be heard through the speakers, but no sound was transmitted when touching the needle. It's bakelite so a little elbow grease and cleaner should go a long way in removing the little scratches and restoring the shine.

This unit is single speed and plays LP's and has a single rca connector.
