The Thorens TD 1965 HTF (135-II) is a two-speed (33 1/3 and 45 RPM) direct drive turntable, renowned for its exceptional stability and precision. The direct drive motor offers smooth and consistent rotation, minimizing speed variations that can adversely affect sound quality. The motor, housed within a die-cast aluminum chassis, provides a stable platform for the turntable, contributing to its legendary status as a high-performance audio device.

The TD 1965 HTF (135-II) features a heavy, 9-inch, S-shaped tonearm, designed to minimize tracking errors and provide superior tracking ability. The arm is equipped with an adjustable counterweight, allowing users to balance cartridges with varying weights and ensure optimal performance. The arm is also equipped with an effective, yet simple, anti-skating mechanism to ensure accurate tracking.

The turntable's platter is made of heavy, acrylic material, providing inertia for smooth rotation and reducing resonance. The platter is secured by a precision-machined stainless steel pulley and a heavy-duty drive belt. The speed control is adjustable, allowing for fine-tuning of the motor speed to achieve perfect pitch stability.

The TD 1965 HTF (135-II) comes with a dust cover, protecting the turntable from dust and debris when not in use. The cover's design is reminiscent of the classic Thorens aesthetic, with a sleek, minimalist look that complements any high-end audio setup.
