The speakers are detachable. There is some fraying on the edges of player, as can be seen in attached photos.

I can hear the sound of record, but does not play through speakers. Also, please know that all proceeds from these sales go to the local food pantry. It has the following speeds - 16, 33, 45 and 78 rpm.
