The biggest mistake bsr made was solid plastic feet on turntable, which need foam or other padding to avoid needle skips. Sitting the entire unit on foam rubber helped greatly.
Good used Lloyds H701 turntable, which appears to be a re-badges bsr quanta curiously, it still uses bars 'old faithful' synchronous ac motor, will very accurate for speed, even if does hum bit more than dc motor would.
Being an audio repair technician, I was used to Lloyds often junk, and bsr the manufacturer of old tank like record changers from 70s with spring mounts, ceramic pickups, rubber-wheel-drives.
And no, you won't get the item for free by pulling this stunt.
Bars usual plastic straight tone arm has been replaced with an s-arm a detachable head shell which hosts standard mount magnetic cartridge greatly improves the sound from ceramic one was popular in pretty much every changer bsr made.
