( Brand: Visonik ), ( Part Type: Turntable ), ( Country/region Of Manufacture: Japan )
The Visonik Thorens BD-2200 turntable, despite its name, is not a new or top-of-the-line model from Thorens, a renowned manufacturer known for their high-quality audio equipment. This particular turntable, classified as "poor" in this context, may have some issues or limitations compared to more recent or premium Thorens models.
The Visonik Thorens BD-2200 is a belt-drive turntable, which is a traditional design for vinyl record players. It features a heavy, cast aluminum platter that helps to reduce vibrations and maintain consistency in rotational speed. The turntable also includes a high-quality, low-noise DC motor that drives the platter, ensuring smooth and quiet operation.
The tonearm on this turntable is a straight, static-balanced design, which means it's not susceptible to tracking errors caused by record warps or weight imbalances. The arm is equipped with a high-quality, low-mass cartridge that tracks the vinyl grooves with precision, delivering accurate sound reproduction.
Despite its good features, the Visonik Thorens BD-2200's "poor" classification may indicate some potential issues. These could include worn parts, lack of maintenance, or simply the natural aging of components over time. The sound quality may not be as pristine as a new or well-maintained turntable, and there may be some noise or distortion present in the audio.
In summary, the Visonik Thorens BD-2200 is a belt-drive turntable with a cast aluminum platter, low-noise DC motor, and a high-quality tonearm and cartridge. However, due to its classification as "poor," potential buyers should be aware of the possibility of issues or limitations with this turntable, such as worn parts, noise, or distortion.

92 deg and the azimuth 90 deg are right on as adjusted using a digital microscope. I set the ft at 2 GM's. Note that this is a suspended turntable design which copies thorens, limn and many others. The Visonik is fully functional but does require some care the cue bar needs occasional adjustment and the anti skate weight may not be as firmly attached as needed.
Happily the only required repairs were minor except for the dust cover crack. As far as I can tell this was the least expensive model of a fairly extensive line of Visonik ttys. The Visonik was made in japan, but also has connections to Poland and Germany. As some of the pics show, I have made some minor modifications, mainly added cork to critical areas.
My starting price essentially covers the cost of the cartridge. Right now, as I prepare this , the Ty is quietly and efficiently playing various LP's. The audio technical at95e cartridge is new with less than 20 hour on the stylus.
The stylus rake angle approx. I acquired this Ty originally as a project.
