2 sold as is due to repairs needed. Now for the problem when I made the decision to downsize and scale down my collection, I turned this player on to test it since it had not been used in several years. It powered up and ran for about a minute, then blew a fuse.

Replacing these capacitors is standard operating procedure when restoring tube gear of this era, and if you want the sound of a 1960's tube player, this is something you should plan on doing anyway if you want a quiet, reliable unit. After owning many different kinds of players over the years, i'm still blown away by the meat and potatoes approach califone took when they built this unit. The amplifier is an all vacuum tube design, and includes 1/4 input jacks for both microphone and radio, separate power switches for amplifier and turntable, a scratch filter, separate volume controls for microphone and phonograph, separate tone controls for bass and treble, two speaker output connectors requires an external 8 ohm speaker or speaker system, and a jack for a second stereo channel these units were built during the transition between mono and stereo.

Important notes 1 sorry, I can ship only to a us. If you're familiar with old vacuum tube gear, you know that this is nearly always caused by the filter capacitors electrolytic going bad. With that said, this can be a real workhorse once it's back on line.

Play speed is continuously variable between 16 and 78 rpm. The tone arm uses a pivoting head with adjustable weight settings. The heavy, machined platter features an integral 45 rpm adapter, along with the original cork mat which is in amazing condition.

If you want something that's really built right, and are willing to invest in a little basic maintenance, this califone is what you're looking for. A strobe indicator allows you to adjust the speed perfectly, while allowing for differences in Record weight. I replaced the 2a fuse and again powered up with the same results. If you can do this yourself, you're golden if not, any competent tech or repairman can do the job it's a very common procedure.

The direct drive, variable speed motor is monstrous, and built like nothing you'd find in a modern, lightweight unit see photos.
